Year 6 work and news

In January, Year 5 & 6 visited a Hindu Temple in Bolton. This was part of a half term study of Hinduism. We were made to feel extremely welcome and we were shown around the temple. We learnt a little about how Hindu's pray and worship.
The Temple is an amazing sight. It is full of ornate sculptures and paintings - and LOTs of gold leaf. It took our breath away!
We drew pictures of the ornate decorations and stautes. The statues that people pray to are dressed in special clothes and people offer food and money.
These children from Year 6 aren't praying - we are drawing a picture of the staute of Ghanesh the elephant god. Notice how we are not wearing any shoes. We had to take them off as sign of respect.
Here is Mr. Marsh in front of the statue of the elephant god Ghanesh.
